Bob Sabiston

Bob Sabiston is an independent filmmaker in Austin, Texas. His company, Flat Black Films, makes films that investigate new uses of computers in the visual arts arena. Sabiston received his Masters from the MIT Media Lab in 1991.

Besides numerous independent short films, he has done projects for MTV and PBS and in 2000 he was animation director for Richard Linklater's acclaimed feature film Waking Life and in 2004 for Scanner Darkly. The films were animated entirely using Sabiston's proprietary rotoscoping technique. In 2003 he directed a section of animation for the Lars von Trier/Jorgen Leth collaboration, The Five Obstructions.
