Kyle Kemink was born and bred in Johannesburg, South Africa. He is a 24-year-old graphic designer, photographer and visual artist. He started his career straight out of varsity at a company called Grid Worldwide and worked there for 2 years, building a foundation for his skills and getting first-hand experience with large companies in the local market. He was afforded the opportunity to win his first Gold Loerie working as a designer on Saint restaurant, and in 2019, made the 6th spot on the official Loeries designer rankings.
In July 2021 he parted ways with Grid Worldwide and started working as a full-time freelancer with clients from the music industry as well as local and international branding projects. At the end of 2021 he received two finalist nominations at the Loeries for personal projects including an album design for FRNGE and his first full typeface (KYRO). He got the opportunity to have his work printed in the most recent IJUSI virus issue alongside a number of talented local artists and designers.
He was chosen, along with three other creatives from around the world, to participate in a programme called the World's Greatest Internship. As part of this internship, he’s been working remotely for Butchershop Co, Hybrid Design and Prophet Design over a 6-month period and getting to experience large-scale international brand work and projects from San Francisco and New York.
Design is not just a day job for him, it's a full-time hobby too. He spends late nights exploring new techniques and programmes to improve his ideas and take his craft to new levels.
